School Holds Career and Postgraduate Study Guidance Meeting

To help students plan their future development, better understand the employment landscape, and prepare for postgraduate entrance examinations, the School of Civil Engineering held a career guidance and postgraduate entrance exam experience sharing meeting for undergraduates expected to graduate in 2027 at the Cultural Hall on the afternoon of June 25. Dean Ji Yingbo, Vice Dean Song Xiaoruan, Deputy Party Secretary Feng Shaojie, class mentors, counselors, and all undergraduate students of the Class of 2023 attended the meeting. The meeting was chaired by Feng Shaojie.

Ji Yingbo discussed the opportunities and challenges currently facing the construction industry, encouraging students to build confidence, adjust their mindset, and take active steps in job seeking. For students preparing for postgraduate study, she advised them to plan carefully and remain committed to their preparation. Regarding employment choices, she encouraged students to broaden their horizons, consider the international development trend of the construction industry, and make choices that best fit their own circumstances. She also encouraged students to set clear goals, make practical plans, contribute to national development, gain experience at the grassroots level, and seek opportunities for personal growth.

Song Xiaoruan discussed the importance of pursuing postgraduate study in light of current industry demand for talent. Focusing on the improvement of students’ overall professional competence and the expansion of career development platforms, she explained the value of further study and provided detailed guidance on choosing universities and programs, whether to contact supervisors in advance, and common issues in exam preparation.

Feng Shaojie analyzed the current employment situation and related pressures in China. He encouraged students to develop a proper view of career choice, clarify their employment goals, and plan their future development rationally. He also encouraged students to improve themselves through further study, work hard for their goals, and prepare for the future.

The meeting also invited 2026 graduates Yang Jiazuo, Zhou Lianfu, Zhong Zhuoning, Li Heng, and Cao Haoran, who have been admitted to universities including South China University of Technology, Northeastern University, Beijing Jiaotong University, and Beijing University of Technology, to share their postgraduate entrance exam preparation experiences. From the perspective of senior students, they provided targeted and practical guidance for undergraduates of the Class of 2023.

The meeting provided practical guidance on employment and postgraduate study for undergraduates expected to graduate in 2027, helping students further clarify their development goals and strengthen their confidence for the future.
