To strengthen young faculty members’ core teaching skills, improve teaching design, enhance education quality, and support their professional growth, the School of Civil Engineering held a teaching practice workshop for young faculty in Room 310 of Lixue Building on the afternoon of June 10. The event was chaired by Song Xiaoruan, Vice Dean for Teaching Affairs, and attended by key faculty members and young teachers.

Centered on “teaching demonstrations, focused feedback, and experience sharing,” the workshop provided a platform for young faculty to learn from one another and improve their teaching practice. At the workshop, Liu Kang and Su Lijun, two young faculty representatives, delivered on-site teaching demonstrations for the courses Engineering Structures and Design of Concrete and Masonry Structures, respectively, showcasing the solid teaching abilities and professional competence of young faculty at the School.

Following the demonstrations, participating key faculty members offered comprehensive comments and suggestions on teaching content design, classroom pacing, blackboard writing standards, teacher-student interaction, and the use of modern teaching methods. They recognized the strengths of the demonstrations, pointed out areas for improvement, and provided targeted suggestions, creating a lively and productive atmosphere for discussion.
In her concluding remarks, Song Xiaoruan noted that young faculty should strictly follow teaching standards, actively integrate value education elements into the teaching process, and continue to enrich the educational value of teaching. She also emphasized the importance of planning time allocation for each teaching session and making flexible use of information-based teaching tools such as Rain Classroom and artificial intelligence to improve teaching effectiveness.
Closely focused on the practical needs of young faculty, the workshop was targeted and highly useful, helping participants identify teaching issues, update teaching concepts, and improve their teaching skills. Moving forward, the School of Civil Engineering will continue to hold regular teaching seminars and exchange activities, further strengthening faculty teaching capacity and building a strong teaching team to support the steady improvement of education quality at the School.
